We’re doing it up big in February as the Monsters of Bass Tour slams into the El Rey Theatre with four bass wreckers deluxe from four corners of the earth. Expect wild eyes, frothy mouths and a skin-showing, sweaty dance floor as FreQ Nasty, MartyParty, Opiuo and GoldRush work the party up into a lather and take no prisoners whatsoever.
FreQ Nasty does not fool around; this popular producer throws down planets of sound with breaks-ridden sets that throttle the dance floor with energy. A native of Fiji who grew up in New Zealand, lived in London and now calls The City of Angels home, FreQ Nasty has a global style that booms back atcha as his shapeshifting sounds bust into your brain and take control of your body with the bass.
Mixing new musical ideas with crowd-proven stomps and sound, FreQ Nasty helps to fuel the ongoing evolution of electronica with his wide-brained, inclusive approach. Whether he is remixing Kelis and Santigold or releasing a mix for the critically acclaimed Fabric Live series, fans can be certain that his interpretation will be as fresh as it is fun.

Well-known by underground producers and DJs, Opiuo is just beginning to catch the ears of the greater fan populace, and for good reason: his super chunky sound is one of the most innovative out there right now. With a current of warm energy, this Australian producer blends funk and filth with immaculate precision into undeniable grooves and soaring soundscapes.
Melding broken beats and hip hop with psych rock and dusting it over with a little glitch, a little reggae and a little jazz, Opiuo’s inventive music has been released on a diverse range of record labels. His latest LP Slurp and Giggle was released on Addictech Records in July of 2010 and has been making bass waves ever since.

In his own words: I’m an artist from Tijuana México currently living in México city, and my work is influenced by a socialist ideal, painting murals and canvas with social themes and people that most of society would want to ignore. I would consider my contents an inclination towards bringing our inner humbleness and sensibility.
