Artist Preview: Big Gigantic, GRiZ, Ancona

We are excited to welcome Big Gigantic to Los Angeles after their highly talked about performance at LIB 2012! They will be joined by GRiZ  and Ancona.


Big Gigantic, whose blend of mind-bending beats, thunderous bass, and frenetic melodies has developed a rabid following since forming in 2008, has taken their sound to yet another dimension with the release of their newest album ‘Nocturnal’ (available now for FREE download at The album, by Boulder, CO-based saxophonist/producer Dominic Lalli and drummer Jeremy Salken, solidifies Big Gigantic as a key player in the worlds of electronic, dance, and hip-hop. With a provocative sound that’s as thoughtful as it is danceable, Big Gigantic’s new songs like “Nocturnal” and “Hopscotch” weave whirling melodies into addictive beats and samples and no genre is off-limits for Big Gigantic, whose breakthrough sound channels everything from funk and dub-step to house and hip-hop.

Big Gigantic’s transcendent live shows are a showcase of brilliant improvisation and a tightly-knit bond between Salken and Lalli, who breathlessly alternates between keys, sax and laptop, building a futuristic wall of sound that keeps the crowd on its feet. The marathon shows feature a variety of songs new, old and unreleased, as well as outside-of-the-box remixes.

Metro-Detroit native Grant Kwiecinski (born May 31st, 1990) better know by his stage name “GRiZ” creates bass infused hip-hop, electro soul, and future funk sounding productions often accompanied by the live performance and recording of his Alto Saxophone and the use of an array of vinyl samples. GRiZ debuted his first full-length album late summer on Sept 4th ’12 titled “Mad Liberation” that has garnered him major buzz and exposure worldwide, racking up over 40,000+ downloads within it’s first 2 weeks of being released, all organically.

Ancona aka Romy Ancona is a self taught musician making his way through the Hollywood, South Bay, and Las Vegas club circuit as an electronic music producer and performer. Having only been DJing for almost two years, Ancona has quickly gained recognition amongst club owners and party goers as a reliable source of entertainment. While Ancona does not have a specific genre, he most enjoys mixing various styles of house music but has adapted to put his own spin on the most popular music of today.
