Meet Operations Intern, Jacob Zazzeron!

Name: Jacob Zazzeron
Graduation Year: 2019
School: UCLA
Major: Economics
Minor: Music Industry

Why did you want to intern at the Do LaB?
I was looking to gain experience in operational planning for a major festival.

What are some things you have learned so far?
Organizing a large festival is akin to building a temporary city. There is so much that goes into planning that the average festival-goer never considers. I’ve also learned that spreadsheets run the world.

What are your career goals and how has Do LaB prepared you to achieve them?
I hope to plan festivals one day!! Where else could be better?

What is the best thing about interning at Do LaB?
The people! + the feeling of supporting something that gives other people joy & good memories.

What’s been your favorite college class?
During my time abroad I took a class on international trade theory. At first, it sounded a little boring and I wasn’t excited for it, but my Professor designed the class as a massive (and intensely competitive) simulation game of the World Trade Organization. Each student was assigned a country to represent, mine being Haiti. It was BY FAR the most unique, challenging, and exciting class I have ever taken. Plus, it was a great way for me to meet people in a foreign country!

What is one thing you have learned from festivals?
Festivals are far more than just the music; they create a community experience where we connect to celebrate each other, the environment, and all forms of art.
